Do your kids love Disney Plus almost as much as you do?
We first decided to subscribe to Disney+ for the nostalgia factor, but it very quickly became our go-to streaming service with our kids.
It’s kid-friendly and safe (with parental control features) and there are so many quality shows and movies for the entire family. Many Disney shows and movies promote learning, curiosity, and empathy—what’s not to love?
If you’re looking for ways to leverage your kids’ screen time for language learning, I have even more good news for you: You can watch many of their (and, admit it, your) favorite shows and movies in Spanish on Disney Plus!
Thanks to the global success of Disney, there are countless titles available in Spanish on Disney Plus! Really, I couldn’t possibly list them all here.

How do you change the language settings on Disney+?
If you’re wondering how to put Disney plus in Spanish, you have a few options. You can:
- Change the Disney plus language settings for your profile
- Watch a movie or show with Spanish audio
- Display Spanish subtitles for a movie or show
Depending on your goals, you can choose one or all of these options (which we’ll walk you through).
For younger kids who aren’t yet reading, you’ll most likely just want to watch their favorite Disney shows and movies with Spanish audio.
But if you have an older child who is learning to read in Spanish, or you want some practice yourself, changing the language settings for your Disney+ profile or using Spanish subtitles can be useful too.
How to change Disney Plus language settings to Spanish
You can change the language for your profile on Disney plus for Roku, your smart TV, or other device if you’d like to see the titles and other text in Spanish. This option is best for fluent readers and older learners who will be able to navigate the app in Spanish.
Keep in mind that when you change your Disney+ profile to Spanish, it doesn’t automatically change the audio or subtitles to Spanish. You’ll still need to change the audio if you’d like to watch a show or movie in Spanish.
To change your Disney+ profile language to Spanish, follow these steps:
- Open up the Disney+ app. If it’s already signed into a profile, find your profile avatar and select it to get back to the “Who’s Watching” screen.
- From there, select “Edit Profiles.” Choose which profile you would like to change the language settings on
- Next, select “App Language” and you’ll find a long list of languages to choose from. Disney plus allows you to choose from Español or Español (latinoamérica)—so if you have a dialect preference you can make that choice here.
- After you’ve selected your language choice, press “Done”—and that’s it! Sign into your profile and you’ll see all of the text and most of the titles in Spanish.
How to watch Disney Plus in Spanish
Whether your Disney plus profile is set to English or you’ve changed the language settings to Spanish, you’ll still need to change the audio settings if you’d like to watch any movies or cartoons in Spanish on Disney+.
If you’re teaching your younger child Spanish but you aren’t fluent yourself, this is the best option. This way, you’ll still be able to easily navigate the app in English, and your child will be able to watch their favorite Disney movies and shows in Spanish.
Here’s how to watch Disney Plus with Spanish audio:
- Select the show or movie you want to watch and press “Play.”
- Pause the show or movie as soon as it begins.
- From there, you can open up the language and audio settings. If you’re watching Disney+ on a smart TV or mobile device, this will usually be located in the upper or lower right hand corner of the screen. If you’re using Disney Plus for Roku, you need to press the star button/ asterisk on your remote.
- Once you’ve opened up the settings, you will find audio and subtitle options. Again, this may look slightly different depending on what kind of device you’re using. For Roku, select “Accessibility & captions.”
- Select Español under “Audio” or “Audio track” and you will be all set!
How to turn on Spanish subtitles in Disney plus
Watching movies and shows with Spanish subtitles can be a great option for older learners or those who are fluent readers already.
Here’s how to watch Disney Plus with Spanish subtitles:
- First, choose the show or movie you want to watch and press “Play.”
- Pause your show or movie as soon as it starts.
- Open up the language and audio settings. If you’re watching Disney+ on a smart TV or mobile device, this should be in the upper or lower right hand corner of the screen. If you’re using Disney Plus for Roku, pressing the star button on your remote will display the settings.
- From here, you will find audio and subtitle options. If you’re using a Roku, you’ll need to select “Accessibility & captions.”
- If you’re using the mobile app or a smart TV, select Español under “Subtitles.” For Roku, select “Captioning track” and find Español.
Keep in mind that if your preschooler or kindergartener is learning Spanish, they aren’t going to gain anything from watching a movie with Spanish subtitles. Often, the subtitles will be much too challenging for their level, as they’re still only just beginning to learn in their native language.
Instead, if you are looking for some ways to introduce them to reading in Spanish, you could try out a Spanish app for kids to find some level-appropriate reading material. This would be a fun and frustration-free option for introducing your child to Spanish vocabulary.
