¡La primavera es divertida! by Walt K. Moon
Fully in Spanish, this non-fiction children’s book is all about the changes that take place during Spring, from blooming flowers to farmers planting their crops for the season. The colorful illustrations and simple sentences make this picture book an excellent choice for younger kids. Celebrate the arrival of Spring and the fun and excitement it brings. This book is entirely in Spanish, but still good for beginners since it was written for younger readers.
Spring Spanish Books about Animals

This is a great finger puppet book for babies. Follow the little bunny and his bird friends as they hunt the eggs! This simple, sturdy board book is perfect for your little one’s Easter basket.

This title is available in my Usborne Books & More bilingual bookshop, along with several others in the series including “elefantita,” “zorrito” and “unicornio.”
Los pollitos dicen / The Baby Chicks Are Singing by Ashley Wolff
This is a perfect bilingual board book about one of the most popular and traditional Spanish nursery rhymes. The farm illustrations are very eye-catching and ideal for younger readers. If you know the melody to the song, you can sing along as you read, which always helps new words to stick a little better, especially with little ones.
(Here is just one version of the song on YouTube—there are lots more!)
Little Chickies / Los Pollitos by Susie Jaramillo
Another wonderful Easter themed bilingual board book for toddlers! These lovable characters from Canticos will delight your toddler as you learn the classic nursery rhyme “Los pollitos dicen.” You can find their version of the song here, so you can sing along as you read!

The perfect book for celebrating the arrival of spring! A rabbit is searching for a home and explores all the changes. This is a great one for bilingual families to read with younger children or older kids with some Spanish skills.
Pedrito el conejo travieso by Beatrix Potter
A timeless classic! This is a stunning edition of the Peter Rabbit story in Spanish. The illustrations are gentle and realistic. The fun use of language makes this an excellent choice for fluent readers.
El conejito andarín by Margaret Wise Brown
This is the adorable tale of a bunny that desires to go far away but his mommy reminds him that he cannot escape a mother’s love and she will always be there for him.
This is a great book for both native speakers and intermediate learners. It uses a lot of repetition with phrases like “muy lejos de tí” and the future tense throughout.
The ending is sweet as the bunny realizes it would be better to not run away after all.
Conejito: A folktale from Panama by Margaret Read McDonald
A must-have for beginners! This mixed language book is mostly in English, but sprinkles in Spanish vocabulary throughout.
Learn about a bunny who is on his way to visit his Tía Monica’s house so he can become “gordito, gordito, gordito.” Along the way, he runs into a fox, a tiger and a lion that want to eat him. Will he persuade them otherwise?
Spring Spanish Books about Plants
Y de pronto es primavera by Julie Fogliano
This Spanish book is perfect for early elementary aged children, and explores themes such as patience and renewal. With beautiful illustrations and Spanish-only text, it tells the story of a boy who plants a garden as he waits, perhaps a bit impatiently, for the season to change.
La semillita by Eric Carle
With Eric Carle’s classic cut-out style illustrations, La semillita observes a tiny seed’s journey until it grows into a flower. This Spanish translation is a good option for bilingual families with young kids or elementary aged kids who are learning to read in Spanish.
El ciclo de vida de las plantas by Julie Lundgren
Learn about the lifecycle of plants in this non-fiction Spanish children’s book, perfect for springtime! This book is a nice introduction for younger kids who are just learning about plants, but it is in Spanish only, so they (or you) will need some previous Spanish skills to get the most out of it.
Cómo crece una semilla by Helene J. Jordan
Another fantastic choice for elementary aged kids to learn about plants, this Spanish book teaches children how seeds grow into plants in nature and in the garden. Your kids may even be inspired to plant some seeds of their own!
El jardín mágico by Lemniscates
An enchanting story with gorgeous illustrations, this Spanish book explores the seemingly magical changes that happen in a garden. Young readers will love learning about the “magic” of nature, along with the scientific side of these changes, too.
¿Por qué no floreces? by Katarína Macurová
This fun picture book has short sentences and cute and silly illustrations that preschoolers and elementary aged kids will love. The bear in the story, a gardener, can’t figure out why his plant doesn’t seem to be growing since he can’t see what’s happening underground.
