How do you say Happy Easter in Spanish?

To wish someone a happy Easter in Spanish, you would say ‘Feliz Pascua’ (feh-lees  pahs-kwah). It is also commonly referred to as Holy Week ‘La Semana Santa’ (lah  seh-mah-nah  sahn-tah) and is one of Spain and Latin America’s most traditional, religious festivals.

What is Semana Santa?

Semana Santa is a religious tradition that takes place during the 8 days before Easter Day. It is also known as la Semana Mayor and is the celebration of the passion of Christ.

I remember during my year in Spain, I experienced Semana Santa and it was sombre but truly captivating.

Thousands of people watch on the streets as processions of huge floats decorated with religious statues of Jesus and the Virgin Mary and hundreds of flowers are carried by ‘costaleros’- usually men from the same church. They are followed by ‘nazarenos’ who carry crosses, torches or candles.

Marching bands play religious music and they start and finish at different churches across the city. It goes on day and night for the whole week.

Illustrated Children’s Bible in Spanish

We also LOVE this beautifully illustrated children’s bible, available in my Usborne Books & More storefront.

We have owned several children’s bibles over the years, but this is by far our favorite. The illustrations are stunning and it includes over 25 of the most known stories from Noah’s Ark, and Joseph and the Dreams in the Old Testament, to the Birth of Jesus, his miracles and The Easter Story! It also includes several maps which I personally really enjoy!

The bible is also available in Spanish. The language is more appropriate for advanced level Spanish learners, so we usually use the English version for bible time, or pick out keywords from the Spanish title. I also think this would make a beautiful baptism/ dedication gift.

Hello Bible is a super fun, faith-filled subscription box for kids!

This is in ENGLISH. I wish a Spanish version existed- niche in the market you guys!

But I wanted to share it nevertheless because many of you, like me, are raising bilingual kids. English resources are a part of our home life too, and growing my kids’ faith and teaching them about Jesus is a priority. It is THE most important thing for our family!

I love that each box comes with material for 2 kids! This allows for siblings to enjoy it together, or for the adult to partake in the crafts with their child.
