What is The Cultured Kid?
The Cultured Kid is a membership based curriculum for beginners that teaches a foreign language through interactive videos, read alouds, digital games and printables.
Founded by Shannon Kelly, an Australian mom who saw a need for making language learning fun and interactive, The Cultured Kid is a foreign language program for kids 2-8.
We had the opportunity of diving into the Spanish course.
In brief, the language course includes thematic bundles and review units after every 3 bundles. Each bundle includes 4 weeks of content and each week contains 5 days of activities.

What Languages does The Cultured Kid Offer?
The Cultured Kid offers 6 languages including Spanish, English, French, Chinese Mandarin, Italian and German!
What’s Included in the Online Portal?
Each week of lessons includes:
- Immersive Language Videos that focus on vocabulary with native-speaker audio.
- Phonetic Flashcards that are used throughout the unit to consolidate the language and pronunciation.
- Activity Sheets that help your child engage further with the key vocabulary.
- Read Alouds from Spanish books called ‘Vamos a la Biblio’ (Let’s go to the library).
- Interactive Games to consolidate the vocabulary.
The videos are the key element to the course and use music and movement to demonstrate the target vocabulary. The video + animation is followed by a call and response format, thus encouraging engagement and participation from your child.
Bundle themes range from colors, animals, shapes, food and family to body parts, clothing, feelings and nature and many many more!

This course is very engaging for young learners and an effective way to learn basic vocabulary through the videos and activities.
It is a GREAT beginners course and one that does not require the adult to be a fluent speaker. In fact, the adult could learn along with their child.
